Several species are endangered with their numbers fast dwindling. Poaching due to human greed, diminishing habitat - forests cut down relentlessly, human habitats in the midst of tiger reserves/ villages around Gir sanctuary for Asiatic lions.

Government is taking steps but they are not adequate, awarding stringent punishments to culprits, frequent video clippings in TV channels, creating general awareness by writing more into school children books. More importantly a person with total commitment  being assigned the ministry dealing with environmental matters
