On the last day of school, everyone was like going after everyone to get their yearbooks signed, and a friend of mine (we’ve been a bit distant though) handed me her yearbook. But the thing is she handed me her report card which was under the yearbook too. So, I signed her yearbook and she took it back, and then somehow I get home and I realize that I have her report card. I tried to go back to school and return the report card, but the doors were locked. So, I go home, and I asked EVERYONE on my MSN list whether they have her phone number, and no one did. So, I try to find her number in the yellow pages; I find like five people with the same last name as her, and I call ALL of them; but none of them are her numbers. And it didn’t occur to me to call the school until the day after, and the school was locked up for the rest of the summer.

I’ll be going in my school very soon, on the 28th, to check the class lists, and I was wondering about whether I should drop off the report card and explain what happened at the office, or should I wait for the beginning of the year and give it to her personally?

I really don’t know what to do, I mean, I’ve felt guilty about this all summer, even though I didn’t even do it on purpose.

  1. Good for you for being so concerned about it.

    If her parents hadn't seen it yet, they, of course, called the school to get a copy of it.  The actual grades should be recorded on the school's computer.

    If you: 1) don't know where she lives; 2) don't know her phone number; 3) don't know her email address; and 4) don't know her MSN, then how close of a "friend" could she possibly be?

    IF you decide to give it to her personally and tell her the same as you have done here, it could seriously creep her out.  At best, she'll be polite, but awkward and embarrassed.  That's pretty private property you have there.  Expect her to avoid you for awhile after that.

    Should you return it to the school's office?  As I said, they should have all grades on a secure computer, not just on her copy of her report card.  You can check and confirm that.

    Since it's old news at this time, the best you can do is one of a few things:

    1. Return it to her personally: You'll look like an obsessive geek and embarrass her;

    2. Return it to the school office and tell your tale there and that you request anonymity;

    3. Send it in an envelope to the school office.  No note necessary.  Use the school's address for the return address, too; not your address.

    4. Forget about it, it's old news and her parents have seen her grades by now.

    I would opt for 3 or 4.

  2. Aww,  i cant tell you have a really good heart :)

    Its really nice of you to worry :)

    Just wait till school starts and give it to her personally !

    :)

    good luck
