Endrue Tampi overpowers Sabar Karyaman in Men’s Singles second round of Jakarta Open 2012
Indonesia’s Endrue Tampi had to struggle hard to reach into Men’s Singles third round as he narrowly defeated his compatriot Sabar Karyaman in the second round of Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 16.
Endrue, who is second seed in the main draw of Jakarta Open, employed all of his skills to defeat his lower ranked challenger in a sensational fight that took three games of top quality badminton.
The second seeded Endrue bagged the first game with a decent margin but lost the second set with a big difference on the board.
However, Endrue found his rhythm in the deciding set and won it with a comfortable score on the board.
On the other hand, Sabar entertained the crowd with his tremendous skills and stretched his higher ranked rival to three games but failed to put up good show in deciding set and lost the battle with a decent margin.
In the first set, Sabar matched the pace of rallies and also troubled his higher ranked team-mate by playing positive and fast badminton.
However, Endrue remained successful in taking a small lead until the mid-game break.
After the break, Endrue stretched the gap by playing with variations in his shots and won the set with a decent 21-18 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Sabar showed his class and stunned his opponent by playing flawless badminton.
His powerful smashes landed in right areas and he did not let his higher ranked challenger to dominate the pace of rallies this time.
Endrue tried his level best to cope up with the elevated play of his opponent but failed and lost the set with a one-sided score of 14-21.
In the deciding game, Endrue continued playing with precision and also employed deceptive shots to maintain his supremacy in the arena.
The higher ranked Indonesian did not spare any chance for Sabar to reduce the gap and easily bagged the deciding set with a striking margin of 21-10.
Endrue emerged as the winner of this mouth-watering three-set fight in 60 minutes with a 21-18, 14-21 and 21-10 score on the board.
