As we approach closer and closer to the 17th edition of the X Games, the host of the mega-event have once again caused our hearts to race faster with their latest announcement. Along with the dates of the competition, the host have announced that
two additional disciplines will be making a debut in the X Games this year. These are Endurocross (Enduro X), as well as the first ever rally street circuit that will be running through the downtown area.
The X Games will be returning to Los Angeles for the ninth year to deliver a heavy dose of thrilling and adrenaline-pumping action over a course of four days, July 28-31. While there are a fair number of events that have become a regular feature of the X
Games, there are usually a few additions in order to add a few extra drops of excitement as well as flavour.
One of the events that is making a debut this year is the Enduro X. The discipline will be featuring both, the men’s field as well as the women’s field. The riders will have to showcase and prove their talent as they try to best an all-terrain obstacle course.
The race will blend the challenges of motocross racing and traditional Enduro. The riders will battle each other for the coveted gold medal. However, the battle will be made even more challenging due to the unfriendly course, which will be testing the rider’s
endurance through sand, mud, logs, rocks and other tough terrain features. Only the most skillful and consistent of the lot will be able to secure the highest spot on the podium.
Enduro X will be one of the eight Moto X showdowns that will be taking place inside the Staples Centre, one of the venues for this year’s X Games.
Another addition to the upcoming X Games is the first-ever rally street circuit. The unique and exciting setting will play host to the RallyCross, which will be making its second appearance after a successful debut in X Games 16, as well as the Rally Car
Racing.
The three-time X Games rally gold medallist, Tanner Foust, is one of the many athletes who are extremely excited about the new street circuit and the thrilling action that it promises.
While talking to a leading sports network, the action sport athlete said, “Having RallyCross at last year's X Games was a huge step for the sport, but racing through city streets is how motorsport began. Being in the car, ripping through streets, cranking
the handbrake through intersections while door-to-door and jumping next to buildings is going to be truly epic! I can't wait!”
The upcoming X Games are expected to feature more than 200 athletes in various thrilling competitions. The competition venues and event spaces will include the Staples Centre and Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE to keep the events in close vicinity and make it more
possible for the fans to catch the X Games action from downtown Los Angeles.
