What is the difference (oe relation) between Energy Conservation & Energy Efficiency?

Is Energy Efficiency a means of Energy Conservation?

Conservation is usually used to mean doing with less of the desired product (not keeping the house as warm, etc.).

Efficiency is usually used to mean doing the same job with less input (insulating the house so it stays just as warm with less fuel).

Here is an example - transportation

- you could travel to work in a large SUV, use a small car on your own, or join several people traveling in a single small car

-SUV is an inefficient vehicle, and traveling alone means you use more energy and do it inefficiently.

- A small car means that you use energy in an efficient way.

-A single small car as a car pool is more efficient energy user, but also represents less energy use per person.

To conserve energy (to save energy) one needs to operate equipment that is energy efficient (takes less energy to operate)!
