For big companies like Tyco Electronics.. Why would Energy Efficiency be an issue?

The three points im focusing on are:

Financial Issues

Environmental Issues - Resources, Global Warming, Pollution

Legislation - ISO 14001

I need to know some information about the above and would really appreciate it if anyone knew anything.

  1. I can't answer for Tyco Electronics, but I can say that the company I work for is pushing various programs to reduce their energy consumption - both electricity and fossil fuels - for two reasons:  One, reduced consumption of electricity / fuels will reduce expenditures for those commodities - thereby helping the company's bottom line.  Two:  By reducing our consumption of those fuels, we're also trying to reduce our carbon emissions.

Why?  Because it's good business sense, and it's part of being a good "corporate citizen".

As for your queries regarding legislation & ISO 14001, all companies in the United States are subject to regulations from OSHA & the EPA two name two.  ISO 14001 is an international standard that many companies strive to receive certification of, because it does have an impact to their bottom line:  Many potential customers will lean toward purchasing from ISO 14001 certified companies.
