Hello :) I am making an energy-efficient home for a science project. So far, I have insulation, solar panels, a garden, a recycle bin, a hybrid car, a fan, and lights.

I was thinking I could also add a compost bin, a water barrell, and....what else?

ideas please :) thanks! ♥

  1.  I would like to get into contact with Ann Schaetsaert who posted an answer here.

Does anybody know how to do that?

  2. hemp toilet paper and hemp clothes.

    and hemp :]

    hehe

  3. an energy generating bycicle

  4. http://www.wasted.co.nz

  5. http://www.earthcomfort.com/how_geotherm...

    Geothermal Heating & Cooling

  6. Make a rain barrel to reclaim rainwater for gardening. A graywater system will let you recycle your shower water. A composting toilet will really cut back on the water. If you don't want to go that extreme, use a flushless urinal.

  7. high efficiency appliances, and on demand water heater, rain water collection system for your garden, energy efficient light bulbs.  Otherwise I think you're good.  Europe has some other interesting things they do like grass roofs and building into the side of a hill or underground is also a possibility.

    Good project.  Good luck!

  8. low flow toilets/ showers (if its possible)

    energy star products

re-used products (old wood for counters)

    # Rainwater Catchment System

    # High-efficiency Fixtures

plus it would loook good to have trees around it

    hope i helped :D

  9. you could have a wind-mill attached to the side of the house; my mate has one. if i remember rightly it doesn't power the house, but it does store up electricity.

  10. thermal windows

    solar pool heater

those light bulbs that are spiral in shape

    energy star appliances

    Hope those help.

  11. a clothesline to dry clothes w/o drier, and a greenhouse(maybe) for your garden.

also remember the panels have to be mounted facing south for most insolation (or made to move toward sunlight)

  12. oh for thr roof make solar tiles and have heat absorbancy pads underneath the solar tiles (make them black) and convert it all to energy, this would make energy bills non-existant and you could sell back the rest of your energy to the government and use that to pay for your water bills etc.

Also create a self flowing river that uses water power for energy to power its own turning and that would make the input greater than the output, therefor making even more energy, so you could not only be energy efficient but you could be making money off this idea.

    Hope it helps >D

  13. GLOBAL WARMING IS FAKE BUT I AGREE YOU NEED TO RESPECT THE EARTH AND ALSO TRY TO SAVE MONEY ON THINGS.

AS IN MY HOUSE I HAVE SOLAR PANNELS AND GEOTHERMAL AND I ALSO USE INSULATION THATS SPUN OUT OF ROCK SO ITS CHEAPER BETTER FOR THE ENVIROMENT AND MUCH CHEAPER IF YOU GOT MORE QUESTIONS OR WANT MORE INFO ON THESE THINGS OR OTHER THINGS EMAIL ME AT HABSTRAT@AIM.COM
