It also shows you how the energy from the producer is given to the consumer.Typically a food chain or food web refers to a graph where only connections are recorded, and a food network or ecosystem network refers to a network where the connections are given weights representing the quantity of nutrients or energy being transfered.

food chain is basically a chain of organisms tht r linkd by d process of eatin n bein eaten..it strts frm d producers(green plants)n goes on till d decomposers.the flow f energy is as follows-the leavs f d green plants trap abt 1% of d sun's energy n convert it 2 food energy.whn a herbivore eats the plant,a gr8 deal f energy is lost 2 d environment in d form of heat.about 10% of the total energy is transferred from 1 level to the another.the flow f energy is unidirectional
