  1. Guarana is a stimulant used for stamina and endurance. It also reduces fatigue. It is an ok ingredient. The only concern about it is that it has a high caffeine content in it. This is the only reason why healthy energy drinks do not use it. They simply are trying to keep the caffeine level down, not becuase guarana is bad.

  2. Guarana is ok in moderation

You should not drink energy drinks or at least consult a doctor before if you are epiletic.

Amp's are DELICIOUS I know but you must drink them in moderation!

  3. Cognitive effects

Because guaranine is chemically equivalent to caffeine, guaraná is of interest for its potential effects on cognition. In rats, guaraná increased memory retention and physical endurance when compared with a placebo.[13]

A 2007 human pilot study[14] assessed acute behavioral effects to four doses (37.5 mg, 75 mg, 150 mg and 300 mg) of guaraná extract. Memory, alertness and mood were increased by the two lower doses, confirming previous results of cognitive improvement following 75 mg guaraná. These studies have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration or any similar government agencies, and do not imply medical or regulatory approval for use of guaraná to enhance cognition.

    [edit] Other uses and side-effects

Guarana seed powderIn the United States, guarana holds a GRAS-status, i.e. generally recognized as safe.[15]

Guarana extract reduced aggregation of rabbit platelets by up to 37 percent below control values and decreased platelet thromboxane formation from arachidonic acid by 78 percent below control values.[16] It is not known if such platelet action clinically reduces the risk of heart attack or ischemic stroke.[17]

Other laboratory studies showed antioxidant and antibacterial effects, and also fat cell reduction (when combined with conjugated linoleic acid) from chronic intake of guarana.[18]

From anecdotal evidence of excessive consumption of energy drinks, guarana may contribute (alone or in combination with caffeine and taurine) to onset of seizures in some people.[19]

  5. Guarana is Caffeine fool!!! Tons of it, its what gives you energy

  6. Guarana is a climbing plant, native to the Amazon basin in Brazil. Each fruit contains about one seed, which contains approximately five times as much caffeine as coffee beans.

Energy drinks may cause seizures in those who suffer from certain forms of epilepsy due to the "crash" following the energy high that occurs after consumption. France banned the popular energy drink Red Bull after the death of eighteen-year-old athlete Ross Cooney, who died after he played a basketball game after consuming four cans of the drink. The French Scientific Committee (J.D. Birkel) concluded that Red Bull has excessive amounts of caffeine. Denmark also banned Red Bull. Britain investigated the drink, but only issued a warning against its use by pregnant women.

16 fluid ounces of AMP contains 143 milligrams of caffeine, as well as MDX5, taurine, ginseng, B-vitamins, guarana and maltodextrin.

Therefore, it's like a typical, average energy drink, it is not one of those extreme energy drinks like those 6 hour energy drink shots.
