Question:

Energy for the big game(s)?

It's my soccer team's semifinal game EARLY on saturday morning. If we win we play in the finals later that day. Also, at around noon I have to ref a game.

What's a good breakfast which will provide me with energy to keep going the whole day? And what should I eat throughout the day?

I've gotten different pieces of advice from different people. My sister told me I should load up on carbs so I have lots to burn. Others have told me fruit is the way to go, but to stay away from acidic fruit like apples and oranges. I generally have a bananna or two before a game, as I was told it gives you energy and leg strength.

It's not my first time in the playoffs, but it's the first time I've really cared about the food I eat. I finally understand that Lucky Charms isn't the best breakfast. Plus I'm captain of my team this year, and I figure if I'm supposed to be leading my 'mates out on the field it would help to have energy.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

  1. You should eat a lot of carbs the day before as well. Eat a hearty breakfast, but don't overload or you'll cramp or throwup in the game. When you play, play as hard as you possibly can because there are substitutes. Eating a banana is good as well as it is really good for keeping your energy up. Sip some gatorade or energy drink and hour or so before the game and a little before you prep. I would recommend an ommellete or toast. Just look at Michael Phelp's diet. He eats foods with lots of carbs because he burns them off quickly. I'm not saying that you have to stuff the brains out of carbs but just eat until you are content and you feel energized. Don't undereat or overeat because that will really drain you energy and make you feel really tired! Good luck mate!
