Energy saving? My Doris has put a thermos flask by the kettle?

and instructed me to pour excess boiled water into it after making her tea. My Doris does get some good ideas-she actually read it in The Daily Mail but I won't let on I know!

At the cabin, we put a tea kettle on the stove (fireplace) to boil and drink.  It is also good because the fireplace smoke dries out the air and the kettle adds moisture.

I guess it helps some. Have you tried boiling less water so you eliminate the excess?
