  1. heat

  2. All energy is converted to energy and/or work or mass: e=mc squared. Cars use gas to create force that moves the car, but a car only uses about 60% of the energy in gas in the winter time to move and heat the car. Even less energy is converted to force or work in the summer time. most of the time energy move from high consentrations to low concentrations. Energy that is not used to do work can be expelled in many ways. Cooling towers expell heat, so do car raidatotors. But lights left on when no one is using them could have been converted to useful energy. How about making cold air then heating it up-that is the way old AC units work.

  3. Just think of a windmill, when wind flows through the turbine, we get a portion of its energy delivered to the grid, some as heat to the air, but a lot of energy remains in the air... it keeps on moving. AND IF IT DID NOT KEEP MOVING  there would be no energy captured. In this case the energy not converted to useful energy is MOSTLY kinetic energy left in the wind not the heat.

Likewise a water turbine. There must be movement of the water that carries away kinetic energy that is not converted to useful energy, and can not be.

But most people will think only of thermodynamics that involve expenditure of energy instead of capture of energy.

  4. All the above.  And in the case of unused energy in your food, it turns into fat.  On you.

  5. waste !!
