First of all id like to thank you for answering my question...

NOW... My son has Enfamil Lipil, Gentlease, Prosobee and now Nutramigen... But he hates his new formula ( nutramigen ).. he wont drink it, the doc recommened it cuz he has AR... ( acid reflex... Did anyone else experience this with there lil one? If so what did you end up doing?

Second part is did your child ever have AR and drink prosobee and be fine? Im leaning toward switching him back to prosobee... but wanted your thoughts.. and wanted to know if you ever gave your son/daughter acid reflex meds while they drank prosobee?

Thanks again :) new mommy

  1. Haha I've been pretty much in the same exact situation. My son had Enfamil Lipil, Similac Advance, Similac Soy, then Similac Alimentum. They thought he had a milk allergy because he threw up blood but then it was deterimened that it was his body being irritated from the acid reflux. We have thickened his formula with Rice Cereal (2 tablespoons in a 4 ounce bottle- try it, makes all the difference in the world he barely throws up now) and he is on Zantac like your son. But to avoid from keeping rambling....when we were weaning him off of the alimentum he went on to soy (not prosobee but same thing basically) while still having his Zantac and he did perfectly fine. Now he is on Gentle formula and doing great : )

but if you do thicken his formula with rice cereal be prepared for his stools to be formed and him to be slightly constipated at first

  2. My now 5 year old had acid reflux and she stayed on enfamil with iron. All they gave me was AR medicine when she turned 5 months old. I can't remember what it was. I remember thinking it was a very popular adult medicine for AR. They just gave her a lower dose. It got better.

  3. Have you tried Neocate?

It's the top of the line elemental and super expensive, but if you can get a prescription, most insurance companies cover it. Mine doesn't, but it's worth every penny.

My son is on it and thriving!

Call the company and they can send a sample.

  4. Both my sons had/have reflux "gerd"  They started on some med that smelled like mint and it didn't work it started with a Z. The DR changed to Prevacid and it works much better. I b.f this baby but if I need to supplement I have to use Alimentum. My first son was on Alimentum due to not being able to b.f for many reasons. Nutrmigen is Alimentum just a different brand makes it.  Is the baby on meds for it yet?

  5. my son also has this problem and we are on Alimentum.  (he's lactose intolerant  / or allergic to milk products as well as AR) Apparently the taste is terrible too but I was told if he's hungry, he'll take it.  And he does.  He's been gaining weight very well on it.  He's also on Ranitidine for the reflux and is doing wonderfully with it.  Sorry we've never tried Prosobee but it might be worth a try.  You'll know very quickly if he'll do better on the Nurtramigen or Prosobee.

good luck! I hope your little one does well either way:)

  6. my daughter age 17months has reflux. she takes acid meds.. and is still on formula. she is taking similac SOY formula.. plus we use the parent choice brandfrom wal-mart.as long as she is on the soy and her meds she has been doing fine..she has been on meds for alomst 8 months now.
