Enfamil? Similac? Generic?

Since a week old my son had been on Enfamil Nutramigen, he was diagnosed with whey and causin milk protein allergy, GERD and mild Soy intolerence. Then at 6 months we had an allergy test redone and we were told soy formula was a go. DH and I got a second opinion from an allergenist due to how allergenic soy is and that doctor told us we were in the clear to introduce cows milk based formula or soy.

Now here is the question (since my only choice in formula has been enfamil because similacs alimentum still contains the causin milk protein and my son was diagnosed with BOTH milk protein allergies) which brand do you believe to be the best? Enfamil or Similac? and generics do they work just as well?

Also, no breast is best stuff or advice to "relactate" my son is 7 months, exclusivly formula fed and I am d**n proud of my choice.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Alyssa has milk protein allergies and Enfamil works good for us. If you join their online club they will mail you formula checks for $7 and $10 off which makes the name brands just as cheap as generic.

  2. How can you be 'proud' of that???  Breast milk would take away all of these issues, don't you want him to feel better?

  3. We began using similac but discovered real soon that generic is just as good and is half the cost. I compared the labels of wal mart brand to similac and they had the same exact ingredients but wal mart brand is half the price

  4. Good Start Formula is good too u might want to check them out and see what ones u can use.

  5. check the labels on the cans of formulas. The Wal-Mart brand Parents choice has the same exact ingredients and stuff as the Emfamil and Similac brands. And there is really no difference between the two. It's just whatever you think is best. I personally would go with the generic brand and save a LOT of money. And you can be proud of whatever you want but no baby is allergic to breast milk. You should go to college.

  6. i use good start natural cultures and have been happy with it but it's really about what your baby tolerates best..

  7. The first baby of mine was on enfamil, second was on similac.Third and fourth were on whole milk.I mean Mayfield in jug whole milk. Nothing would settle on their stomaches besides that. They are fine now they are 1 and 3.They have been sick very little and are very healthy.I also gave them poly vi sol vitamins.

  8. got i hate the breat feeding preachers.. u dident mention breast in your question so it should'nt come up in the answers... but back to the question.. my baby is only 3 months.. she was on enfamil comming home from hospital... i switched her to similac.. and just last week switched her to parents choice.. wich she dident seem to like at first but now shes drinkin it fine... :) they all have the same nutrients in them... sure... breast is best... but if formula was bad for them they wudent make it would they :)
