Enforcement Directorate issues look-out letter against Modi
Former Indian Premier League chairman, Lalit Modi’s troubles have only increased as the Enforcement Directorate of India (ED) has sent out a ‘Look Out Circular’ against him at all the airports and the entry points in India. The ED has done this in connection
with the alleged misappropriation of money in IPL.
What this does is to allow the Indian police and other enforcement agencies at these various points to stop Modi from entering the country and pass on this information to the ED.
There were also reports which said that the ED has started the process of cancelling his passport which would mean that he will not be able to stay overseas – where he currently is. Earlier, the Indian cricket board had filed a complaint against Modi for defrauding
the board of Rs 470 crore.
Recently, the ED had also issued an international Blue Notice Alert, after allegations of a foreign exchange fraud came up against him. According to this international Blue Notice Alert, detectives of a counterpart agency in any other country can detain and
question the individual in question.
Modi has said that he is co-operating with the Enforcement Directorate and that will either appear before ED in London or through a video conference. Modi has claimed that he cannot return back to the country because of a perceived threat to his life in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
Modi was the chairman of the IPL in the first three seasons of the tournament. However, Modi tweeted a message against the newly formed IPL Kochi side which set the ball rolling for a series of tweets and culminated with the suspension of Modi from the IPL.
Ever since then, Modi has been faced with a disciplinary committee hearing by the Indian cricket board.
Since then, the IPL governing council has also been replaced and the Chirayu Amin has been appointed the chairman of the league.
