Engage Super League - Weekend Preview - Round 23
Seven encounters of the 2011 Engage Super League round 23 are lined up between Friday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.
On July 29, four out of fourteen clubs will march into the round twenty three of the Engage Super League XVI.
Friday, July 29 features two encounters where four favourites will greet each other. Both encounters will kick off simultaneously.
At Willows, Salford City, Reds will meet Leeds Rhinos for the second time after facing a defeat of 22-31 against them in their previous match. Reds’ past records have revealed a very few impressive victories with only two wins out of a total of six matches
they have played so far in the Super League. The very recent win against Wakefield Wildcats has broken their trail of four consecutive losses.
On the other hand, Leeds sit on seventh spot on the Super League Tables that is four places above the Reds’ placing. Leeds is treading into the Friday’s encounter in a much stronger form as compared to their opponents, Reds.
The second Friday game will be played in parallel at KC Stadium which will be a clash between the Hull FC and Wigan Warriors.
The very strong Wigan Warriors top the League tables with Hull FC sitting therein on the eighth spot; just a point away from its rival, Hull KR. Hull FC received a cruel defeat of 20-0 against Leeds Rhinos last Friday, which was abundantly criticised for
the extremely poor display of performance.
These two matches on Friday will be followed by two more on Saturday, July 30.
The match between Catalans Dragons and Harlequins RL will kick off at 19:00 in Stade Gilbert Brutus with Dragons assuming fifth spot on the League table, which did not reflect much after incumbent loss of 40-18 against St. Helens last Friday, July 15.
The second encounter of Saturday will be contested between Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR at the Galpharm Stadium which will be kicked off by 19:15. Marching into the Saturdays’ game, Giants have already faced a very embarrassing defeat of 36 nil against
Bradford Bulls on Sunday, July 17, at the Grattan Stadium.
Despite losing the game, Giants have cemented themselves on the fourth position within the league table and this defeat has killed the possibility for them to bag the top two spots within the league table.
The three encounters lined-up for Sunday, July 31 include; Warrington against Bradford, Wakefield against Crusaders and Castleford against St Helens.
Warrington will meet Bradford at Halliwell Jones Stadium, after Warrington Wolves emerged as winners in the July 16’s clash against Harlequins RL with the final score break-up of 54-24.
The clash between Wakefield and Crusaders will be played at Belle Vue Stadium, where as Castleford and St Helens will face each other at the stadium called Jungle.
