Should people dress smartly at engagement parties and housewarming parties? I might be going to these parties in the near future.

  1. Casually Dressy... Nice Jeans, Nice shirt..

  2. I would assume housewarming parties are more casual. Still look nice, but I wouldn't say you would need to wear a dress.

Engagement parties would require nicer attire, a nice slip dress.

    It's better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. :)

  3. Housewarming parties are totally casual.

Engagement parties are a little more like receptions for weddings. It depends on how formal the wedding is. The invitation should clue you in, and if not, ask!

  4. That would depend on the people giving it, and WHERE they're giving it (engagement)....  A housewarming party could either be nice casual (jeans & polo shirt for men; nice capris & top or dress for women) OR it could be more formal (sport shirt/blazer & slacks;  nice pants set/dress).  An engagement party COULD be very casual (i.e. at a beach, park, BBQ), but more than likely it would be dressy casual, or cocktail clothes - and maybe even semi-formal (could be at a hotel).....
