Engagement ring at ceremony?

i never really thought about this till now. but do i where it on my right side then put them together after? or not wear it at all??

I think usually you take it off for the ceremony, then put it back on afterwards, because usually you wear your wedding band further down on your finger than your engagement ring.

my wedding etiquette book says to wear the engagement ring on your RIGHT hand the day of your wedding. then after the ceremony, you can move it over to your left hand, on top of your wedding band.

It's up to you - you can wear it on the right, you can leave it at home, you can have someone keep it for you during the ceremony, you can remove the engagement ring during the ceremony and put your wedding band on before replacing the engagement ring on top of it. You don't even have to wear your rings on the same finger - you can permanently move your engagement ring to your right hand if you so choose. It really doesn't matter. If you're afraid to lose it, I would just leave it at home for a day.

I wore mine on my left and my husband put the band on upside down. I switched it when the pastor was talking later.

I just got married a little over a month ago and I kept my engagement ring on during the ceremony. I then switched the rings after the ceremony. I don't know if there is a rule about this but I did want felt comfortable to me. After the ceremony the wedding ring goes first (closer to your heart) and then the engagement ring goes next.

I am actually going to have my rings sautered together before the wedding day so he will be putting the entire set on my ring finger all at the same time.

You need to have the hand bare which will be receiving the wedding band. So you can have someone hold onto your engagement ring, or wear it on the other hand. I wore mine on the other hand, then put it on over the wedding band right after the ceremony - so they would be on together for photos.

You wear your engagement ring on your right hand, then later you can add your engagement ring to your left hand with your wedding band.
