Question:

Engine Ticks When It's Cold?

I have a 2003 (52) registered Vauxhall Astra 2.2SRi. It has covered 58000 miles, full service history by Vauxhalls.

Ticking over is absolutely fine, but when I pull away when it's cold, I have a ticking noise that sounds like it's coming from the lower part of the engine. It's definitely not knocking in any way.

Suggestions please ^_^

  1. my answer is try to check it out first on auto repair shop..

  2. some times motors have piston slap where before the motor warms up the pistons have not expanded because they are not warm yet  it makes a small slapping noise against the cylinder wall. or it could be a sticky lifter
