If I rebuilt my '79 305, and want to reinstall it into my car without the old (non-functional) A/C unit and compressor, is this even possible, or will removing these parts destroy my whole heat/air system?

  1. just take it off.you can lose the weight and save gas.

  2. yes you can.  there are a few other parts of the air conditioner (condesor) that can be removed as well.  it will reduce friction and weight on your car... BUT, you will need new belts and if you haven't opened your AC system, it's filled with a refrigerant that is considered toxic waste and invokes a fine if spilled.

  3. yea, you can do that, it wont effect your heater any. the only thing is that you might have to change belts.i had a 1978 pont. bonneville once and the ac did,nt work and i still had a good heater.

  4. You do not have to reinstall the A/C compressor, but you will not have A/C. The vent and heater will still work.

  5. You should be just fine if you don't hook up the A/C compressor. Everything else will still function as normal.
