  1. i have owned two of those, their not very fast but they are dependable they wasn't built to be fast just a good overall engine, their one of the longest lasting engines their is on the market right now,i think they ran something like 190 horse power or close to that, but they do last good,my jeep had one in it,and it was still running good at 250 thousand miles, good luck.

  2. That's a tough question. I don't know the year make or model the motor was originally in. A 4.0 liter engine translates to 244 cubic inches. I owned a 69 Camaro once that had the 250 cubic in six cylinder motor. It had 145 horsepower. Bare in mind it was a smog motor with a single barrel Rochester carb. low compression and a crappy intake and exhaust manifold. In the little very light Camaro it had plenty of power. With increased compression, better camshaft and efficient manifolding, it's relatively easy to squeeze 300 horsepower out of these seven main bearing six cylinder motors.

  3. That sounds like a jeep wrangler engine.

They're big on torque but that's about it.  Good for pulling stumps out of the ground but not great off the line.  Acceleration and gas mileage aren't going to impress you.

As far as engineering goes, 190 hp out of 4.0 liters is pathetic.  Only an American company could get so few horses out of so much engine.  Remember the old integra's, they got 180 out of a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder.
