Engine shutters around 40 - 60 mph?

I have a Corolla 93. My car seems to shutter if I don't press the gas much when it is faster than 40 mph. I am guessing there is a problem with the fuel intake. What part could be causing the problem?

  1. Fuel Intake, Fuel Pump, Alternator, Starter, Sensor  There are so many reasons your car is doing that.  You should take it to a Mechanic and have a diagnostic done to find out exactly what it is.

  2. automatic transmission?if so do this test when it shudders keep foot steady on gas then with other foot just touch the brake pedal not enough to stop but just enough to light the brake lights. does the shudder stop?if yes you have an engine misfire might be a spark plug, plug wire, or the module that controls spark. sometimes even a fuel injector or fuel injector module.most people think its the lock-up torque converter but that is rare! i dont see this a lot with standard transmissions.
