  1. If everything will bolt up, it shouldn't be a problem using it as it is. The main difference in a marine virsus car engine is the soft (freeze) plugs in a marine engine are brass, so salt water won't corrode them as fast. Starters, Alternators, Carbs, Etc. should always be of marine type for safety reasons.

  2. Nothing will make it seaworthy.  Automotive engines and marine engines use components which are manufactured differently.  Marine engines are made to run at high RPMs for an extended period of time.  Automotive engines are not.

For example, at wide open throttle in a boat, the motor runs at approximately 5,000 - 5,500 RPMs.  And you can run a boat at wide open throttle for hours on end.  But an automotive V8 engine running at 60 MPH will only be turning around 2,000 RPMs.

Although the engine block for a marine engine is a GM block, marine engine manufacturers such as Mercruiser, OMC and Volvo use their own internal components to allow for the higher RPMs.

All that said, your boat will run for a while but sooner than later you will have an engine failure.

  3. Well, you'll have to start by re-gasketing and sealing everything. You should also find out how many of the 6.0 GTO engine are race-spec, as boat engines have to work WAY harder than car engines. Even if you manage to seal it all up, you may just toss a  con rod right through the skirt while running wide-open on the lake.

Also, I imagine the bellhousing on the 6.0 isn't a bolt-on to the transmission - thing a boat has. You'll have to get an adapter plate.

Frankly...what you SHOULD do is find an old project car and drop that engine into it. Rebuild the anchor that came with the project for marine purpose. 6.0s are hot, but if it came out of a street car, it isn't race-spec, and therefor unable to take the pains of boat usage.
