If I put engineered hardwood on my stairs, do I have to nail it down or can I just glue it to the step? If I have to nail it down, how to I hide the nail heads so they can't be seen?

Thanks in Advance.

  1.   Enginneered wood shouldn t be top nail to much. By the time you countersink the nail head your almost thru the wood..It ll depend on what type of eng.  wood it is, 3/8 or 1/2 inch..What I d recommend is construction adhesive and the special nailed (staples actually) that you can rent that side nail(staples) the wood down.. I own one myself. The 1 ?? I have is how you treating the edge piece? Some  (most) eng. wood product come w/ a stairnose piece , which will have to be glued and top nailed. What about the riser? You can use the wood there but its trickier. There you can use a finish nailer and carefully nail into the tounge but be carefull  GL

  2. You can use finish nails and a nail set then fill the holes with one of the color sticks provided by the same supplier that you get your stain from.  Or you could s***w it down and use wood plugs which you can buy or you can make with a plug cutter out of scrap wood left over from the stairs.  I do not recommend wood glue because stairs take too much of a beating.
