Do you think an freshman level class called "engineering drawing" is the same thing as a class called "Basic CAD". I have to take engineering drawing if I never took a drafting class before in high school and I want to take it as a transient student at a different school. The school I want to be a transient only has a class called "Basic CAD". I know I need to ask my advisor, but do you think they are the same. Arent they both about autocad...

  1. Nope they are different.  Engineering drawing is something like HS drafting but more use of industry (engineering plans) standards.  Teaches you how to set up a plan sheet with borders and title block. Use t-squares etc and a drafting table. Basic cad teaches you , on the computer, how to draw.  With the knowledge you gained from the "engineering drawing" class you will have what it takes to set up a drawing in cad and get after producing a set of plans.
