I am currently doing an Industrial Engineering major, but i would alo like to keep my pharmacy and medical options open. is it possible that i can take the required pre-pharmacy general courses as well as the engineering curriculum, will it look better when i apply for admission to pharmacy school or will they look down upon this? also since you cannot fit everything in a timely maner, is it ok to take some classes in the summer? has anyone every something like this? i mean if you can do good on the pcat and stuff, will they care?

  1. Because it is fairly difficult to get into Pharm-D programs, candidates like yourself that are more well-rounded and have different backgrounds tend to stand out more.  It doesn't matter when you take your courses.  Taking extra courses in the summer will help you graduate on time.  Your PCAT scores do matter, so make sure you start testing as early as you are ready so you can give yourself the option of taking the test again to try to improve your score.

You've chosen a very good field and I hope you make it through.  Some people have to apply the next year if they do not make it in initially, so don't let yourself get discouraged.

    Best of luck!
