  1. I'm not really sure.  Here in SC, we have one historically black college that has Engineering Technology, but no Engineering.

If you want to become a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), make sure the program you select is ABET Engineering Accredited (not ABET Engineering Technology Accredited). There is a difference, and many states do not allow EngTech grads to become P.E.s, and when they do, you will have to have a lot more experience and 'prove' yourself in much greater detail before obtaining your license.

Good luck on your school search.

  2. 1. NC A& T University has a decent engineering program. But the one problem with going there is the fact that their career day is just that a day where as other Non-HBCs have career week where you get a chance to meet other companies other a period of a couple of days. My cousin went to NC A& T and he told me that's what the deal with career day is. I respect HBCs, but they don't offer the same kind of networking opportunities as other schools in my opinion.

    2. There are a couple of schools that have Petroleum engineering, but like the other guy say's they're mostly in Texas. U-T and A&M

  3. I think Texas A&M and UT Austin have excellent petroleum programs.  Don't know of any black engineering schools though.  I wouldn't let something like that have much of an impact on which school you choose though.  Good luck, engineering kicks ***!
