This lie comes up every time the Democrats run for office.  Engineering does not destroy the environment.  People do!  Engineers simply turn science into practical uses for the betterment of mankind.  If unscrupulous people want to destroy the environment, it is usually with some government agency's approval and payoff.  But it would not be an engineer, it would be a contractor or agency.

Air filtration systems; sewage management; wave and air power systems; motor vehicle exhaust systems using catalytic converters to sift engine waste and reduce noise; double glazing etc etc.
