I was looking at engineering University courses, and I was wondering which specialty was for me. There is industrial engineering, civil engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, medical and mechanical engineering. Such diverse fields!

I was wondering if anyone has any pros and cons of any of these fields, and also whether engineering is a good choice in career. What is the job outlook like? Just any information on engineering would be cool. Thanks!

  1. engineering is a great career choice. there will always be demand for engineers.

  2. civil pays well

  3. Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering would be my choice. This is mainly because this job will be much favored in the near future, as demands for renewable energy will be higher because of the physical state that our planet is in with all the stuff about global warming.

By saying this, you should also consider what you like doing and whether or not you will enjoy what field/profession you choose to enter.

  4. Don't be a cheg! (chemical engineer).  It's the hardest.

  5. i'll be a junior at OSU next year and i've been doing engineering. lots of people drop out because of the hard math, chemistry, and physics courses required but i've been succeeding so far. my specific major is BioEngineering. I chose to do this because it is a solid mix of all engineering aspects (physical, chemical, and even medical worlds which was a plus for me). I chose not to do computer or electrical because that science bores the h**l out of me and its all done on computers. industrial and construction engineering management majors are more business types. chemical engineering requires some in depth chemistry knowledge and would be pretty intensive im sure.

  6. Astronautical Engineering! I have this fantasy that it's so cool to be an astronaut. Yep, eversince 5th grade. But, I hate Math especially Calculus so I think I'll never make it there.

Also, Mechatronics Engineering. Think about working in Artificial Intelligence!

Anyway, any branch of Engineering is good. It pays a lot. Just be sure you like hard Sciences and Mathematics.
