  1. Firstly consider safety...not only your safety but that of the machine.   I have seen workpieces fly off a machine when not held down in a correct manner.   The holding of the workpiece is vital to enable the metal cutting process to be successful.  Why...because it must not slip or move when being machined.  Why is this so because you should be applying the correct speeds and feeds to a workpiece or a given material strength.   I suggest that you get hold of a copy of Machinery Handbook and study the relevant sections

    Good luck and be SAFE??

  2. I'm not sure how I would go about explaining it, but the definition of "correct"  as an adjective does pretty well.

    from: http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?...

"(free from error; especially conforming to fact or truth)"

"(in accord with accepted standards of usage or procedure) "

I might add that for machining the correct setup could improve efficiency,  while it _might_ still be possible to machine the  work-piece to the standards required for the final part with an "incorrect" setup, the efficiency of the machining operation may well suffer.

  3. you doing a course or something??

importance of using the correct tooling is simple rearly.it all comes to time the job takes  if your turning a job for example and its finished with a 65mm bore thr u would use the biggest drill or u/drill u have closest to it eg 60mm then u only have 5mm left in to bore out u wouldnt use a 20mm it would take u longer to bore it out.

    make any sense??

it also depends on what u want to do ie roughing out -finishing etc etc.

or if your lucky u could work apposite a proper lazy t w at and aslong as u do the job faster then them u wont get the sack  LOL

as for the parameters there pretty much set corect from the manufacturer u can change them tho just look in the manual and away u go.

if your wanting to know something  specific add it onto your Q and i will try my best to answer it 4u.
