Engineers: how did you become one? What sections of engineering should i look into?

i am interested in physics and design technology, what would be a good path to take.

  1. For undergrad if you just want to be an engineer an engineering degree is probably better. If you want to be actually coming up with technology you will likely need a graduate degree in which case an undergrad in physics might be good, then a grad degree in engineering. You can be an engineer with a physics degree, but i think it is easier if you have a engineering degree.

    It is pretty hard to figure out which one to go into before you get there and start doing it. Look into colleges that are strong in their engineering programs. If you might consider eventaully getting a grad degree you may want to consider physics also.  


  2. Visit the websites of MIT and Rensalier Polytechnic Institute. They're the #1 and #2 colleges for engineering in the U.S.  Hope your grades and passion are up for it.
