Ok, well, im am 15 years old, and my heart is set on living in England or Scotland. Im not sure what I want to be yet, in jobs, either a pilot, tattoo artist, or photographer. I have not figured it out yet. I live in North Carolina, US. And im not very happy with it,

im not sure on whether to live in England or Scotland, i could experiment on it, but im saving my money so me and my best friend can go to England, Scotland, and Italy. How much money would it cost to travel to all those places, dividing them up to equal a year. And, which should we travel 1st, and out of the jobs i posted, which one is the best. Please help me out, im so clueless at the moment. thanks, much love - ang

  1. why do all americans wanna come to britain? =/ jobs are hard to get here...most of the people i know are either looking for one or want to move if they have one! and it always rains....and its very expensive!!

  2. If you are serious about wanting to live either here in England or in Scotland, then you are going to have to chose a career which is in great demand here in the UK.  This is simply because you are not from the EEA (European Economic Area) so therefore cannot just up sticks and move to this country. As an American you will have to either have a lot of money to invest here, be transferred by an American company which has a branch here, or be able to take up a position where it has been proved that  it cannot be filled by a person from the EEA, and the company you would be working for would have had to have sorted your work permit as you cannot do that yourself..

So, basically if you want to come here you are going to have to decide what you want to do, knuckle down at school and get the qualifications, and then get the experience which will be needed for your chosen career.

  3. the UK is a small island so i wouldn't get hung up on the Scotland or England decision. Easy to move around and they aren't that disimiliar.

I'd steer well clear of London though - expensive and overcrowded.

  4. Being a pilot is an incredibly difficult career path; you would need A Level Physics at the very least.

To be honest, those three careers are all completely different.

Are you any good at photography? Do you have a spatial awareness and an understanding of photographic composition? It's not just about picking up a camera and clicking...

As for the tattoo artist idea... I have absolutely no idea how one would get into that career. I guess you get a lot of tattoos done and ask the tattooist.

England and Scotland aren't as dissimilar as you seem to think- certainly not as different as Italy. If you go to places like Carlisle or Berwick, you probably couldn't guess they were English not Scottish.

It also depends on if you're looking at cities or the countryside. Scottish countryside can be quite bleak, out in the middle of nowhere. Also, thistles are spikey. That's my findings.

Perhaps you should visit each place before you try to plan your future in a country- it's not like it looks on tv, you know. England doesn't have cobbled streets and gas lamps as the norm, and Scotland isn't all bagpipes and caber tossing.

  5. To tell you the truth almost every single american wants to move to England.

  6. Scotland always has open arms for young females from overseas, you would have no problem getting work in hotels or bars, keep in mind you have to be 16 to get into bar selling alcohol
