Ok, so i'm not a police officer yet, but i'm asking for info in advance.

I done some research, i'm currently 19 but working on getting into the police force in England.

The MN police force i want to join is in America but the age for recruitment is 21, so if i was to work for Essex police for 2-3 years, would i beable to transfer over to MN police?

If so what procedures would i need to go through?

  1. As has been said............The vast difference , between the laws and the system of government , would be  all most impossible to overcome.  The United Kingdom is a Parlamentary democracy, while the USA is a republic.

    On the other hand............

Canada is actively recuiting  experienced  Police officers, in the UK, to come to Canada.  Remember that we are also a Parliamentary democracy, and one of our two founding  cultures was British . In addition, our legal system is based on "British  Common Law "  and our Police services are a lot more professional, in their  training and  the way that they respect the public that they  serve.

Here is a link to the city of Calgary, Alberta Police Service website. Take a look  at the "International Applicants " section for the current  hiring requirements.

  2. The experience may look good on your application, but you still need to be certified by the State of Minnesota. Because the laws are so different, I doubt they would give you much credit for the training you already received.
