England Knights’ to play second exhibition game against Cumbria - Rugby League
While talking to reporters on Thursday, October 13, England Knights have confirmed their match with Cumbria in an exhibition fixture for next Saturday, October 22, at Whitehaven Stadium. This will be the second game of the year which will be taken on by
the Knights as part of their autumn plan after Steve McNamara’s reserve squad will see France in contention at Leigh Sports Village this Saturday
While speaking about the latest development within the Rugby League, the head coach, Kieran Purtill, said, “It will be a great test for us. They are very passionate about rugby league in Cumbria and they're very passionate about playing for their team. It's
great for the sport up there and I hope the crowd will come out in support like they normally do. I spoke to a few of the lads who played in the England game last year and they've all said that it was a very physical game. You don't get the chance to play
against England all the time so we know they'll be pumped up and ready to go for it.”
Both sides, Cumbria and the Knights, will clash against each other in lieu of the cancellation of their fixture against the Samoan side.
Cumbria has a history of battling against England’s training squad, prior to the Four Nations campaign.
The squad will see their side take on international teams in two tough matches, which is definitely an exciting experience.
While talking about the hectic week ahead of them which is punctuated with two encounters back to back, the coach shared that all they need is good managerial skills, which actually means that when the squad clashes against France, they manage to tread ahead
, injury-free. He also added that if they do sustain injuries, they will march further into the Cumbrian clash with a stronger squad.
Moreover, the coach also clarified that they have prepared not to take their opponents lightly because all they wish to see victory.
