The problem is that for years England have not brought in many new players but relied on the older ones!

They are now left with an injury list as long as your arm, a huge guy on the wing who never gets the ball and an inexperience team that stop playing in the 50/60th minute!

Million dollar question. Without doubt the talent is there to be brought through.

Same as England football has been, the coach has been unable to get the individuals to gel and make a team.

Ashton makes a great assistant coach but seems unable to get the best out of an International team in the way he did with a club team. I guess in the same way as playing at International level is a big step up from club rugby coaching must be the same and some of the brightest stars fail on the biggest stage.

A failure to resurrect this campaign should result in a new head coach at the helm. England cannot afford to waste the next 3 1/2 years like they did after the lats world cup. These last two results make the 2007 RWC campaign seem more like a fluke or an indication that the senior players (now retired) pulled the team through NOT the coaching staff.

Rob Andrew and the rest of the board need to be thinking seriously of a replacement plan, but have they left it too late and have the best coaches been snapped up now.

Maybe Jake White would fancy the task after the Lions.

it was like all engand rugby (+football)matches. they do well in the 1st half and rubbish in the second

I can only imagine that they take stupid pills at half time. Up to then they were playing ok, putting some decent moves together and retaining posession. After half time they just commit rugby suicide

I think its we go into half time leading (wales and italy match) then Brian Ashton decideds to bring on subsitutions that we don`t need eg: taking Vicory the captain of all people off and then in the Italy match taking Wilkinson off which lead his substitution to be the result of a Italy try because of a charge down. Brian Ashton needs to learn when its nesscesary to subsitue when your only 10 points clear is not the right time!

People  are unfair on them. It is a good wonder why after Half time things go to pot, and they make mistakes and give away easy points, Why is a good question. What is Brian Ashton telling them at H-time and what is happening in the Changing room. Ok against wales maybe losing a third of the team was a contributer but against Italy?? Please. The media could be a problem aswell. They are unfair. Wilkinson's game against Wales, one bad pass and its all his fault that they lost, and that the try was scored, but if you look at it closely it was a series of bad passes that led to it.

I think it unfair expecting all those old-timers to run around a rugby pitch for eighty minutes.

Matches involving England should have a first half of thirty minutes, a break of two hours and a second half of five minutes.
