However, Cricket Australia looked ahead as they announced their new cricket team manager earlier today.
Gavin Dovey will be returning to his native country as he will be taking over the role of Cricket Australia’s team manager when Australia’s current team manager Steve Bernard will be stepping down.
Bernard announced his retirement before the Ashes series. He will be handing over the portfolio to Dovey after the World Cup that is scheduled to begin from 19 February next year in the sub-continent. Bernard has been the team’s manager since 1998 and has
been termed as the finest team manager by Cricket Australia.
Dovey who is an expatriate from Australia, is England’s current rugby team operations manager for the Rugby Football Union.

Brown hailed the services of 60-year-old Bernard who was also a former national selector saying that he had been outstanding and “is one of the most popular identities in world cricket.”
Dovey who had his earlier education from Canberra, Australia had worked in the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority. He then moved to the other side of the world when he took up the role of anti-doping authority for England’s RFU. He moved up the ladder
when he was appointed as the team’s operations manager.
Dovey looked forward to begin his stint as the team manager but appreciated his previous employers.
"The RFU has been great to me and I will always be grateful for the opportunities they offered me. I have learned a lot," Dovey thanked RFU.
