England’s dream tour of Australia continues as they defeated the Prime Minister’s Eleven by 7 wickets according to the Duckworth/http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lewis-c72807 method ahead of the T20 and ODI series. Ian Bell was the star of the Show in Canberra with a
magnificent unbeaten hundred. After showing some tremendous form in the Test match format, England look set to cause more panic in the Aussie ranks in the limited overs version of the game as well.
At the Manuka Oval, Canberra, Test cricketer and the captain of Prime Minister’s XI, Tim Paine won the toss and elected to bat first on a flat track. It turned out to be a good toss to win as the Prime Minister’s XI lost the 1st wicket
on 75 runs in just 12.3 overs. Because of the stunning start, the Prime Minister’s Eleven was able to score 254 runs in 43 overs. The match referee had to cut down the overs as the rain intervened. Tim Paine and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308 scored quick half-centuries
to help their team post a competitive total on the board.
Daniel Christian remained the top scorer for the Prime Minister’s Eleven, as he scored 53 runs off as many balls with the help of 4 fours and a six. Captain Tim Paine scored exactly 50 off 59 balls in which he struck 5 fours and
a six. Callum Ferguson (39) and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729 (22) also chipped in with little cameos but failed to carry on. Brett Lee, who is making a comeback after injury, showed his batting skills as he struck 26 off just 18 balls with the help of 3 boundaries.
Almost all the English bowlers were expensive apart from the left-arm spinner Michael Yardy, who just gave away 33 runs off his 9 overs and grabbed 3 victims as well. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajmal-Shahzad-c42489 also took 3 wickets but gave away 61 runs in his

In reply, England XI were in control from the start through some extraordinary stroke-play by Ian Bell, Steve Smith and Jonathan Trott. Because of more rain the target for England was reduced to 223 runs in 35 overs which they
achieved with 7 balls remaining for the loss of 3 wickets.
Ian Bell remained the top-scorer for his brilliant 124-run knock and batted through the innings. His brilliant innings included 13 fours and a six. Jonathan Trott missed out on a half-century as he was dismissed on 48 which came
off 55 balls - he struck 5 boundaries in the cameo. He, along with Ian Bell, scored 98 runs for the 2nd wicket partnership. Kevin Pietersen missed out in the warm-up match as he was struck right in front of the wickets by Brett Lee. He scored 13
runs.
Brett Lee bowled 6 fast overs for 35 runs and picked up a wicket. Xavier Doherty picked up a couple of wickets in his 7 overs after conceding 38 runs.
Ian Bell was named Man of the Match for his stunning knock which steered England towards victory.
