England U-21 versus Czech Republic U-21 – Under 21 European Championships: Second half review (Part 2)
After taking off http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Henri-Lansbury-c16044. In the 67th minute, Lansbury was involved in the build up play as he collected
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675 whose cross was blocked from entering into the Czech penalty area as the ball was knocked out of play for another England
corner kick.
In the 68th minute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kyle-Walker-c21566 went into the referee’s book
after he pulled down Cerny near the edge of the England penalty area as the striker seemed to be clean through on goal. The replays showed that Walker was lucky to escape with a yellow card as the referee could have easily sent the full back off for his cynical
challenge.
In the 72nd minute, Daniel Sturridge tried to chip the Czech Republic goalkeeper from a free kick from the right hand side. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man almost succeeded in his ambitious attempt but the ball had too much pace on
it as it landed on the roof of the net rather than side the goal. However in the 76th minute, England finally broke the Czech resistance as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-c9879 Welbeck scored with an emphatic header. The Manchester United striker made contact with Sturridge’s
cross and gave http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 their first goal of the encounter.
With the score line at one nil, England went for the kill as Tomas Cleverley was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Albrighton-c23470 in the 77th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Henri Lansbury almost scored the second goal
of the match for England as his shot thudded against the cross bar on its way out of play. In the 84th minute, Czech Republic opted to make yet another change as Chramosta replaced Moravek in their midfield department.
Nonetheless, disaster struck for England in the 89th minute when Czech Republic found their way back into the match. Gecov’s cross was deflected as it fell straight towards Chramosta who produced an immaculate finish
to slot the ball past the onrushing Fielding. With the score line at 1-1, England pushed onwards for a winner once more but this time they were caught out at the back in the final minute of the match when Tomas Pekhart netted Czech Republic’s second goal of
the match after he was played in by Chramosta.
Thus the match finally came to an end with a win for Czech Republic. England were the better team throughout the match but they couldn’t hold onto the ball in the last ten minutes as Czech’s raided their defensive third of the
field time and again. Stuart Pearce’s men crumbled under the late Eastern European onslaught and as a result, they failed to progress to the semi-finals of the Under 21 European Championships by losing out to Czech Republic in the final group stage match in
