South Africa U19 kicked of their tour of England with a narrow win by 4 wickets, in the 1st One-Day International, played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on July 16, 2011.
The visitors completed the victory with 7 balls to spare, as late wickets meant that the match went to the closing stages.
For the host, it was opener, Daniel Bell- Drummond, who made 86 from 74 balls, which helped his side post a target of 187.
With most of the matches in England affected by rain, the start to the first One-Dayer was also delayed for a considerable amount of time.
In a reduced, 31-over affair, it was South Africa's U 19 captain, Keaton Jennings, who won the toss and put the host into bat first.
The start was brisk, as openers Drummond and Sam Kelsall, contributing 76, for the first wicket.
Most of the damage was done by Drummond, who knocked the bowlers handsomely, all around the park. With pacers having no answer to some good power hitting, South African skipper, Jennings turned to spinner, Prenelan Subrayen.
He returned the captains favor in style, as he removed Kelsall, after he was stumped for 17. The next wicket came courtesy of a run-out with Adam Rossington falling for 7.
Meanwhile, the explosive opener continued the onslaught for his side, with the middle-order also providing good support, chipping in with quick runs.
Bell- Drummond, eventually fell to Lesiba Ngoepe with Subrayen, taking a good catch. His 86 was compiled of 10 fours and a maximum hit.
At the end of 31 overs, England's Under 19 totaled 187 for the loss of 7 wickets.
The pick of the bowlers for the visitor was Subrayen, who grabbed three crucial wickets, followed by Ngoepe, who claimed two scalps.
South Africa U-19s got off to a rollicking start, as openers, Jennings and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Quinton-de-Kock-c82885, hammered the bowling confidently.

De Kock continued the assault, as the Proteas reached the 50-run mark in no time. Kock eventually perished to Tom Knight, after making 40 off 28 deliveries, striking seven boundaries.
With the visitors seemingly on cruise control, they lost 2 wickets in quick succession. However, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arthur-James-Norman-Price-c45820 showed some real power hitting, smashing three sixes and 2 four in his brisk 35, putting his side well ahead of the required rate.
