The 2nd Youth One-Day International between England U-19 and South Africa U-19 sides will take place at County Ground, Northampton, on July 18, 2011.
England Youths will look to bounce back from their defeat against the Proteas in the first match, though no whole sale changes will be necessary.
As for the South African team, they will look to continue their winning form and cement a strong claim on the series with another victory.
Looking back at the first ODI, it was a rain delayed affair where the visitors triumphed by 4 wickets, using the D/L method.
There were good performances from both camps and the players would be hoping for a clear day today, in order to get in a full match.
Bowling would be a concern for both teams as neither of the first choice bowlers could restrict the opposition batsmen early on.
In the first match, South African’s opening bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rabian-Engelbrecht-c83214 and 1st change, Calvin Savage, both went for a hammering, going at 11 and 7.33 runs per over respectively.
For the host, the showing from their opening bowlers was even more dismal as Jamie Overton, Reece Topley and skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Ball-c41883, all went for more than 7.5 runs per over.
The plus point for the English youngsters has been the form of opening batsman, Daniel Bell-Drummond, who looked in sublime touch. His 74 ball 86 will give him great confidence ahead of the second One-Day international, where he will be hoping to provide
another good start to his side.
The English youngsters will be looking to deliver a better collective batting show, since the last match saw most of the batsmen getting good starts but failing to continue them further. However, the shortened match length can be blamed for the last encounter.
As for their opponents, the opening partnership of skipper Keaton Jennings, and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-James-Muchall-c60376 the same for the rest of the series.
The match will be played at the Northampton County ground, which is home to the English domestic outfit, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northamptonshire-c824.
The ground is known to aid spin and it will be interesting to see the combination used by both captains.
However, with forecast of heavy showers, both teams will be keeping their fingers crossed and hoping to get a full fifty-over game.
