India Under-19s 268/9 (50 ov) v England Under-19s 272/6 (49.4 ov)
- England Under-19s won by 4 wickets (with 2 balls remaining)
In the sixth match of the ongoing Quadrangular Under-19 Series, England stamped their overall dominance in the tournament by incinerating India after beating them by four wickets with two deliveries remaining at Endeavour Park, Townsville.
After this win, England secured 13 points and became the number-one team in the tournament by winning all three of their fixtures, while India landed flat on fourth place without a point after losing all of the games they have played so far.
On winning the toss, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 on a small total to give their batsmen a fighting chance in the match to end at the top of the table.
However, India left England stunned when openers Manan Vohra and Akhil Herwadkar hammered a stupendous stand of 56 runs.
With the openers having their way with the bowlers, the English team grew more desperate as they failed to make early inroads.
Herwadkar was the first one to depart as he lost his wicket after scoring an innings of 17 runs.
Vohra was then joined by skipper, Unmukt Chand, but before the duo could build another daunting partnership of the match, Vohra perished after amassing an inspiring innings of 52 runs, leaving his side standing on 87.
Vijay Zol then came in the middle and crafted a resilient partnership with the skipper as both batsmen took the side to a tally of 133 runs before Chand lost his wicket on a run out after scoring an innings of 28 runs.
This was by no means an end to the Indian onslaught as Akshdeep Nath formed a nifty partnership with Zol.
The Indians after the demise of Zol (60) and Nath (62) suffered a batting collapse in their lower-order and consequently ended the innings on posting 268 runs.
With a respectable total to chase, England had a tough task ahead, but kept their cool and even while losing wickets in their emphatic run chase, they kept the score board ticking which ultimately won them the game in 49.4 overs for the loss of six wickets.
Wicketkeeper/batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BT-Foakes-c48804, who belted a match winning innings of 93 runs, was named as the Player of the Match.
On April 13, England will now meet India in the semi-final of the tournament at Townsville.
