England Under-19s v West Indies Under-19s – ICC Under-19 World Cup 2012 – (5th Place Play-off) – Match Update
A stellar century by Sam Wood enabled the England Under-19s to finish fifth in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Under-19 World Cup 2012, following their 13-run win over the West Indies Under-19s in the 5th Place Play-off, at Endeavour Park in Townsville on August 24.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 U-19s won the toss and elected to field first, with Daniel Bell-Drummond (18) and Player of the Match Wood (104) opening the innings for the England U-19s. Their partnership lasted 39 runs, after which Bell-Drummond was dismissed by Derone
Davis (10-1-56-2) in the 5th over.
Ben Foakes (7) and wicketkeeper batsman Ben Duckett (12) put forth meagre contributions, but Wood powered on, and Craig Overton (18) proved an effective partner, joining Wood for a 4th-wicket 86-run stand, which got the team up to 168 by the 33rd
over.
Overton was dismissed by Justin Greaves (8-0-38-3), after which the middle order – comprising Kishen Velani (7), skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kyle-R-Mayers-c71976 (6-0-17-2).
Tom Knight (18*) and Reece Topley (26*) chipped in with some late runs, and by the end of 50 overs, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 U-19s managed to post a total of 241.

Opener Sunil Ambris was dismissed almost immediately, in the very first over on duck, but skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kraigg-Brathwaite-c71708 (30) held on, going on to join Campbell (105) for a 72-run stand.
Following Brathwaite’s dismissal at the hands of Overton in the 18th over, Anthony Alleyne (6) and Akeal Hosein (6) tried but failed to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Campbell-c49176’s 51-run partnership with Mayers (22),
followed by a 50-run stand with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Katwaroo-c91155 (25).
Following Katwaroo’s dismissal in the 44th over, the West Indies U-19s were at 202 for 6. The remainder of the batting order found themselves unequal to the task of reaching the target, and they eventually found themselves cut off at 228, all
out, by the 49th over – 13 runs short of the target.
