England Under-19s v Zimbabwe Under-19s – ICC Under-19 World Cup (Warm-Up Match) – Match Update
Courtesy a stellar all-round performance by Brett Hutton, the England under-19s managed to clinch a massive 131-run victory over the Zimbabwe Under-19s in their http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 Oval in Brisbane.
The England U-19s won the toss and elected to bat first, but got off to a wobbly start with opener Sam http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wood-c98110 dismissed on duck in the very first over by Kyle Bowie (10-0-44-3).
Alex Davies (7) followed in the 6th over, sent packing by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/André-Odendaal-c44255 (7-0-25-1), but number 3 wicketkeeper batsman Ben Duckett managed a substantial contribution of 45 runs prior to his dismissal at the hands of Luke Jongwe (10-0-39-2).
England’s innings were peppered with mediocre performances, with none of the batsmen managing to convert their starts into substantial scores. Kishen Velani (2), skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Ball-c41883 (5), and Jamie Overton (7) all failed to reach double digits, while Aneesh
Kapil (23) and Craig Overton (27) were both abruptly cut off and dismissed.
By this point, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 were at 167 for 8 in the 42nd over, and received some unexpected salvation in the form of tail-enders Hutton (who top-scored for his side with 55) and Tom Knight (26), both of whom managed to get the final team total up
to 220 before they were sent packing by Curthbert Musoko (8.4-0-39-4) in the final over.
Hutton followed up his half-century with a 3-wicket haul (9-2-28-3), and supported by Shozair Ali (5-1-10-2) and Knight (1.2-0-1-2), managed to cut Zimbabwe off at 89, all out.
Ali took care of openers Kevin Kasuza (1) and Luke Masasire (7), while Hutton had Malcolm Lake caught and bowled at 6, before sending both skipper Matthew Bentley (8) and Ryan Burl (7) back to the pavilion in the 13th over. Ball put forth an economical
performance, only conceding 7 runs in 5 overs, in addition to claiming the wicket of Jongwe (4).
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Campbell-c49176 Light (15) and wicketkeeper batsman Nyasha Mayavo (who top-scored for the side with 21) were both dismissed via run out, and the remainder of the order were unable to put up a fighting performance, with Knight sending both Peacemore Zimwa (0) and
Kieran Geyle (10) packing in the 36th over. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 eventually finished, all out, at a paltry 89, conceding a 131-run defeat.
