England Under 21 manager Stuart Pearce sees the resemblance in Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Both the players were signed by the North London club from Southampton and both the players played as forwards for Southampton. At the same time, both the players were used by Arsene Wenger on the right flank in their opening games as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 players.
Pearce however believes that there is a lot more to the two players as they also happen to be developing at the same rate, which if anything is a little out of the ordinary.
When talking about the development that he saw with Walcott and how he sees Chamberlain maturing, the Under 21 manager is quoted to have said: "If you roll the clock back it was probably a similar situation with Theo. When he was playing regularly for the
Under-21s he was not playing a lot for Arsenal.”
"At the moment Alex is in a similar position.
"Every 90 minutes he can get, whether it be international or club football, will benefit him greatly.
"I think he will get better and better the more games he plays.”
At the same time, Pearce went on to admit that he was highly impressed with Chamberlain and that according to him, it is only a matter of time before the youngster makes the leap to the senior team, in order to prove just what he is made off.
Pearce then added, by stating that the player should be given the opportunity to play for the senior team, but he was bound to make some mistakes early on. However, these mistakes would help him develop even further and that has been the case for nearly
every player that has gone up the ranks.
"But the only way you find that out is by putting him on the pitch, letting him make mistakes, flourish and praise him for the good things, then give him little pointers to improve.”
"That is the case for all of our players in the squad."
Chamberlain has gone on to impress nearly everyone every time he set foot onto the pitch in an Arsenal jersey. In his first ever Champions League game, the forward went on to score the goal, which helped Arsenal pick up all three points from the tie.
As a result, it seems like it’s only going to be a matter of time before Chamberlain becomes a regular feature for England and for the Gunners.
