England Vs Bangladesh; 1st ODI Preview

Bangladesh cricket team led by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mashrafe-Mortaza-c1917 is on England tour these days to play a One Day series against the hosts. 1st ODI of the series will be played today at Nottingham, England. The hosts triumphant from a 3-2 series win against the World Champions will now face an opposition that would be less demanding in all the departments. But Strauss should not forget that the Bangali Tigers pose much of a threat in the shorter formats.

Three ODIs against the cricketing underdogs would be chance for England to record three dominant performances after their notable ODI performance was overturned by the mighty Aussies in the last two games of recently concluded NatWest series. Though England won the series by 3-2 but lots of questions are yet to be answered. Both Luke Wright and Tim Bresnan faded badly against the Kangaroos in the recent ODI series. Bresnan could only claim 1 wicket conceding 236 runs. When it comes to the batting side the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Kieswetter-c51708 also failed to impress the audience.

The hosts have once again adopted the rotational policy as they rested Graeme Swann and same would have happened with Kevin Pietersen if he had not got that thigh injury. These rotations show that the England side is well aware of the Bangali challenge that can come out any time in a limited-over series.

Andrew Strauss, English captain his hopeful that his side would not take its foot off the gas. While taking to media Strauss said, "We've won four out of six one-dayers [this summer] and we're very keen to win these three. We want to take things forward from our Australia win. There's no room for complacency on our part".

Bell is expected to join the squad for number 3. If Strauss wanted to continue with two spinners only then Tredwell can expect him making the squad otherwise it would be http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajmal-Shahzad-c42489 slotting in.

Bangladesh though faced a clean-sweep in the quadrangular Asia Cup played in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747.

Jamie Siddons, the coach of Bangladesh has cautioned the hosts to be careful of his guns.

"If Tamim goes off in any of these three one-day games England are in a whole heap of trouble. We can put on a big score if the other guys bat around him. Anything is possible".

If we look at the recent performances of both the teams England would come to the ground with a psychological edge of thwarting Ponting’s men, the Lions of cricket. Off its last five matches English team has won three losing the last two against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 in November 2009.

Light showers are expected at some time during the match at Trent Bridge. And if the weather turned out to be cloudy, as expected, some swing to the ball can come but in England midsummer favours the batsmen mostly. Both the teams had played a one-day only once at Trent Bridge with England winning the match with 168-runs.

Though apparently it seems as if England would be the ultimate winner of today’s game but nobody knows what would happen in the end as “cricket is a game of chance”.
