Despite the final match being a dead rubber, with the England Women having secured the 5-match T20I series 4-0, the West Indies Women managed to salvage their pride and secure a narrow 3-wicket victory with zero balls remaining in the final match of the
series, played on September 16 at the Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground.
The West Indies Women won the toss and elected to field first, with Tremayne Smartt (4-0-27-2), skipper Shemaine Campbelle (4-0-30-2), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anisa-Mohammed-c44783 (4-0-23-2) leading the attack.
The England Women opened their innings with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-Roger-Kirshaw-Pierson-c42135 it out for long, with Smartt claiming both wickets early on in the match. Beaumont was trapped lbw by Smartt in the second over, while Wyatt
was sent packing in the 4th over.
Wicketkeeper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Arran-Brindle-c45514 (9) were both unremarkable. By the time all three had been dismissed, the England Women were at 85 for 5
by the 13th over.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Katherine-Helen-Brunt-c70447 attempted to bring the innings back on track, top-scoring for her side with 35, in addition to setting up a 30-run stand with Heather Knight (13), which got their team up to 115 by the 18th over. Brunt was then dismissed by Anisa
Mohammed, and Knight followed her back to the pavilion in the very next over, caught out by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stacy-Ann-Camille-Ann-King-c90876 off Campbelle.
By the end of 20 overs, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anya-Shrubsole-c45269 (1*) at the crease, the England Women managed to post a final total of 139.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 (18) and Smartt (15), and their combined efforts enabled them to establish a 28-run base for the team to build on, before Shrubsole intervened, sending Smartt back to the pavilion via run out
in the 4th over, and dismissing Taylor in the very next.
Player of the Match http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Juliana-Barbara-Nero-c69633 (27*) ensured that the team reached 123 by the 17th
over, after which Dottin was bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Holly-Louise-Colvin-c63292.
Campbelle (1) and Knight (6) were unable to contribute much, but Nero held her nerve, and guided the team to a thrilling last ball victory, enabling the West Indies Women to reach 140 by the end of 20 overs, with 3 wickets remaining.
