England - a vulgar nation?

If England is such a vulgar nation (as suggested by someone Scottish answering a question!!) then why is the Country being run by Scots with so many of them living in ENGLAND. I can never really understand why they want to live there and not in Scotland if it is so terrible. The past is the past and some of the Scottish should get over it and not feel such venom!

Do most Scottish hate the English - I know the English (being so tolerant) don't feel the anymosity towards the Scots ??

  1. It's wrong for you to say that most Scots people dislike the English, because that's simply not true. In Westminster [the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland] the Scottish MPs are still greatly outnumbered by English MPs. The Scottish politicians need to keep working there because they're still a part of the UK. And London just happens to be where Westminster is located. Scotland is not an independent country yet - so they still have every right to be there. Don't forget - there are lots of English people living in Scotland too. :-)

  2. It is not IF England is...England is a vulgar and a thieving place.  Last time I was in Scotland, why is it that some of the best spots in Scotland are owned by the English?  Why does England want to transport the water to England and then sell it back to the Scots?  Why why why is always a question ever asked about England.  I don't blame the Scots for remembering what happened in the past, because it is still happening in a more subtle way.  England has done it to many other countries.  The english (and pls note the lower case) came, took all the phosphate worth over billions and gave the independence back with just over a million dollars worth of compensation.

If England is so good, why aren't the English staying put to marvel their own country then?

You may be right, let bygones be bygones.

    I am not from Scotland

  3. There are bigots everywhere and it goes the other way sometimes with some English hating the Scots, but hatred is not the general feeling and mostly we all get on.

  4. England has long been unable to produce political leaders of any calibre and so it is only natural to turn to those nations where there is a superior education system. (Remember, Tony Blair was educated in Scotland!)

The animosity by the venomous English towards the Scots started in 1603 and continues to this day.

WHY is it that when Scottish independance is raised, it is English and their politicans who so violently oppose it? Could it be that they know that an independent Scotland (with its oil) will reduce England to a poverty-ridden, third-world state?

Remember that when the Scottish people freely elected a Scottish Nationalist Government in 2007, it was the Westminster Parliament which said it would never work with the SNP administration.

So what is the difference between Westminster and Robert Magabe? Or is that what you meant by the English being so tolerant"?

You need to wake up to reality.

  5. You're right a lot of Scottish do hate the English because we treated them so badly hundreds of years ago. Past is past and they need to get over it.
