http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 all-rounder Samit Patel hopeful of international return
Discarded English cricketer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 this year.
England is currently playing a three match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 which will follow the limited overs part of the tour.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Huzefa-Mohammed-Patel-c63657 is a hard hitting lower middle order batsman who is also more than handy with his left arm orthodox bowling.
The all-rounder feels that he is a much more mature cricketer now as compared to a couple of years ago and this is an ideal time for him to make an international return. He is happy with his performances in county cricket this season; however he wants to
be more consistent to strengthen his case for national selection.
Patel said, "It is definitely another chance for me to push my international claims - massively so. I would be very disappointed if I didn't make the one-day squads this summer. But I know I haven't done enough yet. I need to keep going in the right direction.”
26 years old all-rounder made his international debut in 2008 and since then he has played 11 ODIs for England. His numbers are not exceptional at this stage of his career but his best bowling figures of five for 41 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at the Oval has been
the highlight of his short international career so far.
He also stated that it is not fair to consider him a limited overs specialist because he has a fair enough first-class record which shows that he can be a useful cricketer in all the formats of the game.
“I have been put down as a one-day cricketer but I don't think my first-class record is shabby either. I just have to get my head down and get on with it and keep scoring the runs. You can't really argue with what was said before. I just have to work hard
in the gym and show the right attitude so they can't ask for any more," Patel added.
