The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is in discussions with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board to schedule two additional Twenty20 Internationals towards the end of the packed summer, in a bid to get its team prepared for the 2012 World Twenty20 Championship.
This was revealed by the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Charles-Giles-Clarke-c49957.
"We are in discussions with the West Indies," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 told the media reporters. "We have said we are interested in more preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup. The new captain would benefit from more opportunity to captain," the ECB chairman added further.
England, the defending World Twenty20 champions, have a packed home season this summer but they are set to play additional Twenty20 games against the Caribbean side to the end of the home season.
England is currently playing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at home. The hosts have won the three-match Test series by 1-0 and are looking forward to a one-off Twenty20 game against Tillakaratne Dilshan’s men. The only T20 will be followed by five One Day Internationals.
Soon after the home series against Sri Lanka, England will play India in all the three formats of game. The India series will be followed by the extra West Indies games. The Twenty20 matches against Windies will have to fulfil broadcasting obligations and
the concerned boards are in discussions to sort out this matter.
The ECB chairman said that besides being preparatory games for England cricket team, the extra games are intended to help the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) financially as well.
"It is important to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Try-c94438 to redress the balance economically of their game,” said Clarke. “It is important West Indies cricket is financially successful. We are not looking at these games as vast money-spinners for English cricket," he added further.
Clarke also revealed that England’s winter campaign would also include 10 One Day Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 and India before Christmas. The side will also play three one-dayers and four Test matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka earlier next year.
Venue for the Pakistan games have not yet been decided, though http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 is considered to be a potential neutral host for the series.
