England appoints http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Alan-Gooch-c60530 as batting coach on permanent basis – Cricket News Update
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 announced that the English cricket team’s batting consultant, Graham Gooch, has been hired permanently as the permanent batting coach.
Gooch, who is one of the finest Test batsmen that England has ever produced, was delighted after bagging the contract. The 58-year-old will now be spending more time with the English team and is hoping that this will help in the development of the team.
He said, “I am delighted to be taking on the role of England batting coach on a full-time basis. I will now have the opportunity to spend a lot more time with the players and other coaches both in the build-up to series and during the series themselves.”
Gooch has always been a firm believer in the batting capabilities of the English team. The former cricketer thinks that there is a lot of potential in England as far as batting is concerned, which if utilized properly can help them become the top side in
all formats of the game.
He said, “I firmly believe that with the talent we have at the moment within the batting unit and those pressing for places we can continue to develop and improve as a side, which is a very exciting prospect.”
The 58-year-old made his international debut in 1975 during a Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. The right-hand batsman has represented England in 118 Test matches scoring 8900 runs at an average of 42.58. He has 20 Test centuries to his name, which is the highest

Gooch has been acting as a batting consultant for the English team for the last couple of years and the upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Flower-c44362, was pleased that Gooch will
be assisting him with the team.
He said, “Graham has an excellent relationship with our batsmen and is already an important part of our management team so I am very pleased that he will be joining us on a full-time basis.”
