The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on Saturday, February 18, 2012 announced that the English cricket team’s batting consultant, Graham Gooch, has been hired permanently as the permanent batting coach.

He said, “I am delighted to be taking on the role of England batting coach on a full-time basis. I will now have the opportunity to spend a lot more time with the players and other coaches both in the build-up to series and during the series themselves.”
Gooch has always been a firm believer in the batting capabilities of the English team. The former cricketer thinks that there is a lot of potential in England as far as batting is concerned, which if utilized properly can help them become the top side in
all formats of the game.
He said, “I firmly believe that with the talent we have at the moment within the batting unit and those pressing for places we can continue to develop and improve as a side, which is a very exciting prospect.”
